"AutoMobili-D is quickly filling-up with automakers, suppliers and tech startups eager to announce and display technologies and platforms that will transform the future of transportation," said Sam Slaughter, 2017 NAIAS Chairman. "We've traveled the world meeting with industry-leading companies and their response to our mobility platform and the global attention NAIAS participants garner has been tremendous."

Current companies that have approved to have their AutoMobili-D participation publicly announced are:

  • Automakers:
    • General Motors
    • Nissan
    • Toyota
  • Suppliers:
    • IBM
    • Magna
    • Schaeffler
    • ZF
  • Industry and Government Partners:
    • China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT)
    • Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC)

After exploring opportunities for real-world vehicle demonstrations for the past few years, 2017 NAIAS will include an outdoor driving experience that will run along the Detroit River. Media and Industry Preview attendees will be able to experience advanced autonomous and driver-assist features in vehicles on a 1.5 mile closed-loop. AutoMobili-D participating companies can reserve time during Press Preview and Industry Preview days for demonstrations.

"Having international media and industry attendees get behind the wheel and experience these exciting, cutting-edge innovations in potentially inclement weather adds a unique dynamic to AutoMobili-D," added Slaughter.

Spearheaded by NAIAS, AutoMobili-D will run in conjunction with the 2017 auto show this coming January in Detroit and will feature more than 100 companies, including automakers, tier one suppliers and tech startups. AutoMobili-D will kick-off on Sunday, January 8, 2017, the day prior to the start of NAIAS Press Days (Jan. 9-10), and will run through NAIAS Industry Days (Jan. 11-12).
